Washington D.C.: Holly Kearl, author of Stop Street Harassment: Making Public Places Safe and Welcoming for Women and Mandy Van Deven, co-author of Hey, Shorty!: A Guide to Combating Sexual Harassment and Violence in Schools and on the Streets will be in D.C. for a discussion of their books, followed by a book signing. New York: With more than 5,000 people expected to attend, SlutWalk NYC promises to be one of the largest in the world. Join the movement that fights slut-shaming and lets the world know that victim-blaming is not OK. Saturday, Oct. 1, noon, Union Square, 201 Park Avenue South.

Boston: It’s the 40th anniversary of the original Our Bodies, Ourselves book. To celebrate, the OBOS Global Initiative and Boston University is hosting a free public symposium on women’s health and human rights. The event will feature women from 12 countries who will share what Our Bodies, Ourselves means for their countries. The symposium will also be streamed live on the web here.
