Don’t Ms.: Mother’s Day, MOMA Nights, Knit-a-Boob and More

Everywhere: May 8 is Mother’s Day! Stay tuned to the Ms. Blog for posts that put a feminist lens on the day.

New York: MoMA nights, in conjunction with the exhibition Looking at Music 3.0, will feature a DJ set by Adam Horovitz (of the Beastie Boys) and a poster signing by artists featured in the exhibit, including Kathleen Hanna. Other artists in the show include filmmaker Miranda July. May 5, 5:30-8:45 p.m. @ MoMA

In partnership with breastcancer.org, knitters will gather to “Knit-a-Boob.” Watch others knit, or pick up needles yourself to knit wearable prosthetic breasts for patients and survivors of breast cancer. May 6, 8 p.m. @ Oak Knit Studio, 505 Carroll St., 2B, Brooklyn

i am not a good enough feminist is a group exhibition featuring 23 artists whose work engages with gender, sexual identity and what it means to be a feminist. Opening reception May 7, 7-10 p.m. Curatorial talk May 11, 6:30 p.m. @ 58 Lispenard St.

Women’s eNews honors 21 Leaders for the 21st Century at its annual awards ceremony, which celebrates women who make the world a better place for other women. May 3, 6 p.m. @ Jumeirah Essex House, 160 Central Park South

Chicago: Join Planned Parenthood of Illinois at their Generations Gala: A Celebration of Healthy Families, featuring Kathy Najimy and Dr. M. Jocelyn Elders. Stick around for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and live music. May 5, 6-9 p.m. @ Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St.

Pomona, Calif.: Check out Take Back the Night and The Clothesline Project, an evening of live music, poetry and art to close out sexual assault awareness month. May 6, 6 p.m. @ Cal Poly Pomona, 3801 West Temple Ave.
