MS. AT 40
Are You a Ms. Original?
When the "preview" issue of Ms. appeared as an insert in New York magazine in December of 1971, it was an immediate hit.
26,000 people subscribed right away. 300,000 bought it when it hit newsstands that spring. More than a million signed up to get Ms. over the next few years. Collectively, they defied the dire prediction of ABC news anchor Harry Reasoner, "I'll give it six months before they run out of things to say." At 40, Ms. is still going strong, and we still have lots to say.
Now, we're seeking Ms. original readers! If you were a charter subscriber or one of the first to pick up Ms. in those early years—or you are the child, grandchild, relative, or friend of someone who was—we want to hear from you.
