Author: Angela Yarber

Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber is the author, artist and Executive Director at the Holy Women Icons Project. She holds a Ph.D. in Art and Religion. Angela is a former Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and the author of seven books, four of which were named Top LGBTQ Christian Books. Her work has been featured on NPR’s Progressive Spirit, Maya Angelou’s memorial celebration and the television show Tiny House Nation. She lives with her wife and two young children at their tiny, off-grid retreat center on Hawai’i Island.

These were the subversive sisterhood of saints unsung in most seminaries, unheard of in most congregations, missing in the stained glass and absent in the canons codified by patriarchy. One decade ago, I began to paint them and write about them.
