Ms. Classroom

Ms. Classroom, feminist digital textbook

The disproportionate affect of the COVID-19 pandemic on women—and especially women of color—and the historic protests for Black lives and racial justice taking place across the country have inspired feminist teachers more than ever to bring current topics and activism to the classroom.

Ms. Classroom is the first-of-its-kind digital textbook series based on current and classic articles from the pages of Ms. magazine, 1972-present.

The featured articles are written by some of the most important and widely read feminist authors, thinkers, and activists of our times: bell hooks, Gloria Steinem, Barbara Smith, Anita Hill, Alice Walker, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Bonnie Thornton Dill, Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Dolores Huerta, Barbara Ransby, Caroline Heldman, Janell Hobson, Carrie Baker, Susan Shaw, Rita Dove, Aviva Dove-Viebahn, Ileana Jimenez, Holly Kearl, Brittney Cooper and many more.

Ms. Classroom is used by teachers for all levels of women’s and gender studies, sociology, political science, history, English and journalism courses in hundreds of colleges (and a growing number of high schools!) in the U.S. and Canada.
