Career Girls (careergirls.org) is founded on the dream that every girl around the world has access to diverse and accomplished women role models—and through a collection of over 10,000 video clips featuring more than 500 women from hundreds of career fields, they’re making that dream a reality. In the Career Girls Corner, Ms. will introduce readers to some of the inspiring CG role models working to changing the world.
Kristin Slevin is a political consultant at a foundation and political office dedicated to getting more women elected to public office. She was inspired by the Year of the Woman in 2018, and the historic candidacy of Hillary Clinton before it—and she wants to see even more women running moving forward, including for elections down the ballot and at the local level.
Slevin was previously a program associate; now she’s deputy field director. She helps the campaigns of women running for office on the senate and governor’s level by giving them tools they need to succeed.
Her advice? Find your passion and work towards it. Girls should consider a career in politics, she says, because it’s a great way to make a difference in people’s lives.
