Ms. Magazine, Groundswell Fund and Groundswell Action Fund announce Gender & Democracy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | APRIL 22, 2025

Ms. Magazine’s Women & Democracy platform is a one-stop-shop for connecting experts on issues related to gender and right-wing extremism and violence, attacks on democracy, and the rise of authoritarianism in the U.S. and around the globe.

Now, Ms. has joined forces with Groundswell Fund and Groundswell Action Fund to issue a new specialty site, Gender & Democracy, featuring the work of Groundswell grantees and partners in the effort to champion inclusive democracy. Among the stories you’ll find: in their own words, reflections by and accomplishments of grassroots and local leaders, women of color, Indigenous women, and trans and gender-expansive people whose organizing and work is supported by Groundswell. By amplifying this chorus of voices—and the solutions advanced, communities served, challenges faced, and victories won—the Ms. x Groundswell site demonstrates the myriad ways intersectional organizing makes a difference in advancing democratic principles.

Click here to explore the project and read essays from five grantees, live now. Additionally, a new grantee essay will be featured every other week for at least the rest of the year.

Questions or press queries about the project can be directed to Ms. magazine at press@msmagazine.com.
