New York: Catch opening day of Kirsten Greenidge’s Milk Like Sugar at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. This poignant play follows 16-year-old Annie as she decides whether to honor the pregnancy pact she made with her friends or pursue a life outside of her dead-end town. Co-produced by Playwrights Horizons and Women’s Project, the Los Angeles Times called it “A must-see! New York: Anita Hill, best known for her brave testimony of sexual harassment in the 1991 hearings against Justice Clarence Thomas, will be the keynote speaker at Hunter College’s Sex, Power and Speaking Truth Conference. The conference will discuss the gender, race, class and politics of sexual harassment and will include highlights from Sex and Justice, a First Run Features film about Hill’s testimony. Los Angeles: The all-American Jewish lesbian folksinger Phranc is playing a musical tribute to the Woman’s Building, an L.A. collective that encouraged and hosted feminist artists.
