On the Issues with Michele Goodwin is a popular, issues and policy-focused podcast featuring feminist analysis, insightful conversations and exciting guests. This is the first podcast from Ms. magazine, a legacy feminist publication. In each episode, host Dr. Michele Goodwin and special guests will tackle the most compelling issues of our times, centering feminist concerns about rebuilding our nation and advancing the promise of equality.

A new Fifteen Minutes of Feminism episode—Tradwives, Turning Point and the Business of Anti-Feminism (with Madeline Peltz)—is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and MsMagazine.com.

What’s the deal with tradwives? From Turning Point to Instagram, the movement has found a strong following—and built a commercial empire. It’s even hit the runways, marketing “traditional” clothing to women as the next wave of what’s fashion forward. But what’s behind the curtain? Beyond the idyllic images of returning to the prairie and a slower pace of life, there’s discontent, abuse and women who want out. Dr. Michele Goodwin is joined by writer, journalist and recent author of Good Girls and Alpha Males: How the Conservative Media Is Recruiting Gen Z Madeline Peltz to unpack just what—and who—is behind the tradwife trend.

“I think what the right has really done is taken this trend and said, actually, this post-Dobbs world works for you. It’s actually better for you to have less civil rights, because the trade-off is, you know, marriage and children, and the stability that comes with that. And of course, that’s a fantasy and it’s a way of convincing young women to give up on this whole feminism thing.” —Madeline Peltz

“I talked to a lot of conservative young people in the last couple of months… I have found that many of these men, including ones who express extreme views, are actually highly persuadable. They are looking for a leader to validate their grievances, and the options they have, right now, are not good. So, if you give them better options, if you give them leadership who are speaking to their grievances while, also, you know, redirecting this underlying bigotry, I think you can build a coalition much more powerful than the current base of the Democratic Party… I really believe it’s possible to bring some of these young men back from the brink.” —Madeline Peltz
