Marta Lempart is a women's rights defender and the founder of the Polish Women's Strike — a civic women's rights movement set up in the wake of Poland's near-total abortion ban, which has since expanded to fight for human rights for all, democracy and the rule of law. Lempart's work includes advocating for better healthcare and access to abortion, equal rights for Poland's LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities, the separation of church and state and judicial independence.

It has been just over two years since the imposition of a near-total ban on abortion across Poland. The ban removed almost all conditions in which a woman can access abortion care, leaving millions of women in the dark when it comes to deciding what happens to their bodies. 

It is more critical than ever that we stand up to support access to life-saving abortion care, especially those with the power to liberalize laws. There are millions of lives depending on it.
