New episode of Ms.’s On the Issues Podcast—The Trump Indictments: Trump Goes to Georgia

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | AUGUST 25, 2023

On the Issues with Michele Goodwin is a popular, issues and policy-focused podcast featuring feminist analysis, insightful conversations and exciting guests. This is the first podcast from Ms.magazine, a legacy feminist publication. In each bi-weekly episode, host Dr. Michele Goodwin and special guests will tackle the most compelling issues of our times, centering feminist concerns about rebuilding our nation and advancing the promise of equality.

A new episode—Fifteen Minutes of Feminism—Trump Goes to Georgia (with Anthony Michael Kreis)—is available now on Apple PodcastsSpotify and MsMagazine.com.

On this week’s episode, On the Issues continues our series unpacking the litigation and criminal charges that have been levied at former president Donald Trump: The Trump Indictments. Earlier this month, Trump was indicted once again—this time, on 13 charges related to his role in interfering with the 2020 election results in Georgia. The case marks the former president’s fourth indictment, and over 90 charges of criminal activity. He turned himself in to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia on Thursday, August 23.

Prior to the release of the Georgia indictments, Dr. Goodwin spoke with professor Anthony Michael Kreis about why the case matters—and what it means for the rest of the cases currently being leveled against the former president.

A full transcript of the episode may be found here, as well as a few excerpts below:

“Look, when you are constantly going on TV and saying, ‘I’m doing some crimes,’ bragging about it on social media and videotaping yourself doing some crimes, it turns out at some point the federal government will indict you.” —Leah Litman

“When the federal government asked for the materials back, he basically tried to find people to hide the documents and to help him get away with this.” —Leah Litman
