We Heart: Sen. Elizabeth Warren!

8351488072_b8d33020dd_bHow could we not love Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., for her candid speech on the Senate floor yesterday about the government shutdown? The senator put a verbal smack-down on continued attempts to cut women’s access to birth control through assaults on the Affordable Care Act, even at the expense of our government and economy.

She spoke passionately on behalf of both maintaining a functioning government and a woman’s right to reproductive health care.

Said Warren:

I have a daughter and I have granddaughters and I will never vote to let a group of backward-looking ideologues cut women’s access to birth control. We have lived in that world, and we are not going back, not ever.

You said it, Senator!

  1. Marlene McGlensey says:

I love Senator Warren. Thank you for supporting her as she continually stands up for women’s rights!

  2. William Lane says:

Unfortunately, the actors with all the agency in this situation are not ours. They are not the scientists, the women, the poor, the elderly, or even their (Democratic) representatives.

The two actors in this fight are the insane Republicans and the slightly less insane Republicans. All we can do, for better or worse, is watch. Our pressure means nothing to the Tea Party fanatics and their blood-red bases of support.

  3. When reason out weighs ignorance we all win. Thank you Senator Warren. More importantly my two daughters thank you. Stay Strong Boston, Massachusetts!

  4. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for all the newly elected to feel like senator Warren. To care for the people, not the banks and how much money they can milk from the government while they re in office.

  5. Pauline Koppel says:

Fight a good fight. This is such an important issue. All those who have the money to have private health insurance should fight for those who cannot afford it. We have universal health care in Australia. It is the best and we’ve had it since the 70’s. Those who can afford health insurance have it so that the public health system can be used for those who need it most.
It is disgusting that a political party can put their needs to stop Obama Care above the needs of the people they represent. It is a disgrace.

  6. Betty Bell says:

Thank you Senator – it is wonderful that a woman stands up for women – apparently the men don’ t think this Republican Shutdown is hurting people – maybe when they are older than three years they will look at their behavior again and come up with more reasonable answer!

  7. Elizabeth Warren ROCKS!

  8. Kim Moore says:

Senator Elizabeth Warren tells it like it is and is not afraid of anyone. She is a strong woman who makes us so proud that she is fighting for all of us. Thank You!

  9. Thank you, Senator Warren. I loved your comment, “We have lived in that world, and we are not going back, not ever.” I hope your daughter and grand-daughters carry on your feminist activism.
