Vice President Joe Biden teamed up with Funny or Die and Workaholics star Adam Devine to release a video in support of the Obama Administration’s “It’s On Us” campaign to combat sexual assault on college campuses.
Since the launch of the White House’s “It’s On Us” campaign in 2014, Vice President Biden, whose wife, Dr. Jill Biden is a professor at Northern Virginia Community College, has become the face of the Administration’s fight against sexual assault on college campuses. In November 2015 the Vice President authored an Op-Ed that appeared in college newspapers and media outlets across the country. This past spring the real-life Veep toured several college campuses alongside Lady Gaga, delivering speeches on the issue of sexual assault and asking students pledge that they will be active in preventing sexual assault and sexual violence on their campuses. In June, Vice President Biden penned an emotional letter to the Stanford Rape Survivor via Buzzfeed News. In 1990, Vice President Biden introduced the landmark Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to Congress as a junior Senator from Delaware.
This latest effort, filmed at the historic Josephine Butler Parks Center in Washington, D.C., finds the Vice President and Devine on an undercover mission to “crash” a college party. Never one to be out-cooled by a bunch of college kids, the Vice President wears his signature aviator sunglasses to keep his identity a secret. (Because no one ever notices the, erm, older gentleman at the party in a suit and sunglasses chilling with secret service agents, right?) Eventually, Devine and the Vice President come clean about their identities and deliver the important message they were sent to relay to students: that sexual assault is something everyone can work together to fight against.
