Corinne Botz is a New York based artist and educator, whose practice engages with issues including narrative, space, gender, and the body. Her photographs have been widely exhibited, and her published books combining her photography and writing include The Nutshell Studies of Unexplained Death (The Monacelli Press, 2004) and Haunted Houses (The Monacelli Press, 2010). She is currently working on a film that tells diverse stories of American motherhood and the workplace through lactation rooms, including a U.S. House of Representatives lactation suite.

Is Online Breastfeeding a New Thing? How the Pandemic is Changing Everything and Nothing

Lactation has become simultaneously more and less visible. In the age of social distancing, nursing in public is waning from our collective sight. At the same time, a novel form of public lactation is developing online, in particular on videoconferencing platforms, which function in many ways as the new public space.
