Charity Hume has taught hundreds of writing workshops and English classes in high school and university settings, and continues to coach writers of all ages. A former director of the NYU Creative Writing Program, she has been a guest speaker at NYU, Columbia University, CCNY, and The Huntington Library in Los Angeles, in collaboration with WriteGirl and the E. E. Ford Teacher’s Institute. A contributor at Cultural Weekly, she has written three books: The Naked College Essay, The Path to Creativity and The Wisdom in the Room: A Teacher’s Guide.
Although women’s topics and individuals appear sporadically, textbooks marginalize women’s perspectives, historical context, and achievements—overlooking women’s history.
