Abortion Care Network has authored a love letter to abortion providers. The letter was signed by 112 abortion rights organizations wishing to express their deep gratitude for abortion providers, who have worked to make abortion and reproductive healthcare access a reality for people across the country despite unending obstacles.
Today, there are 34 percent fewer independent clinics across the country than there were in 2012.
The threats independent clinics face are harsh, which is why now more than ever, they need our support to continue meeting this moment. It’s on each of us to speak up, organize and stand with clinics whose service is often made possible by small donations from community members. We must demand policy change that protects our clinics and their patients, and an end to abortion coverage bans that hit patients of color and those struggling financially the hardest.
Reproductive health, rights and justice advocates come together today in their communities and online to commemorate National Abortion Provider Appreciation Day: a day dedicated to highlighting the work of abortion providers as stigma persists and political and cultural attacks escalate.
My husband, 5-year-old son and I climbed into our SUV and took a road trip this summer. And we stopped to visit independent abortion care providers along the way.
