What’s Your All-Time Favorite Ms. Cover?

When you think of feminism, does a classic cover of Ms. come to mind? Ms. is coming up on a major milestone next year—our 40th anniversary—and one of the many ways we’re celebrating is by inviting Ms. readers to pick an iconic Ms. cover and tell us what it means to you.

We’ve teamed up with Stanford University to conduct an essay contest, “Ms. at 40 and the Future of Feminism,” celebrating four decades of fearless feminist reporting. To enter, choose from one of 40 iconic covers and submit a 150-word mini-essay on how it captured an era or a moment, how it shaped the feminist movement or how it changed your own life.

Entries will be judged on originality, vision, awareness of feminist issues and quality of expression. The contest will run from August 1st through October 15th. Ten $100 cash prizes will be awarded for the best short essays, and winning entries will be displayed alongside Ms. covers on the Stanford campus in January 2012.
